What happens if you see small adjustments on your card spends

You might occasionally notice small FX (foreign exchange) adjustments on your BasedApp Visa card transactions, especially for purchases made in foreign currencies. For example, after buying something priced at 10,000 JPY, you might see a primary charge immediately, followed by a small adjustment a few days later.

These adjustments are common and usually small. They occur due to:

  • Fluctuating Exchange Rates: Exchange rates can vary slightly between the time of your purchase and when the transaction is fully processed, causing small differences.

  • Processing Delays: Transactions may not process immediately, and rates can shift during this delay.

  • Visa's Currency Conversion: Visa handles currency conversions, and minor variations can occur.

  • Bank Fees: Some banks charge additional foreign transaction or currency conversion fees, contributing to small adjustments.

  • Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC): If you opted for DCC at the merchant’s terminal (paying in your home currency), the merchant’s conversion rate may differ slightly, resulting in adjustments.

While these adjustments are normal, you should always monitor your transactions for unexpected or unusually large amounts and contact support if anything seems incorrect.
